AI Built

Learn to research with AI, step by step. Ask better questions, check the answers, and catch the mistakes.

The 5-step way to use AI

  1. Ask a clear question. One question at a time works better than ten.
  2. Ask for the source. If it cannot say where an answer came from, be careful.
  3. Check every number. Open the company's own report and compare.
  4. Ask for the other side. Make the AI argue against itself.
  5. Write down your own reason. The decision is yours, not the AI's.

AI can be confidently wrong. It sometimes makes up numbers and facts that sound right. That is why steps 2 and 3 matter most.

Three free starter prompts

Copy one, and replace the words in [brackets] with your own.

1. Understand a business

Explain what [COMPANY] does in simple words, like I am 12. Then list five things I should check in its annual report to see if your explanation is true.

2. Read a long report

Here is text from an annual report: [PASTE TEXT]. Summarise it in 10 short points. Put a question mark next to anything you are not sure about.

3. Test your own thinking

Act as a careful sceptic. Give me five reasons my understanding of [COMPANY] could be wrong, and what evidence would show it.
